India’s Trade Performance: Growth in Exports and Services Amidst Import Decline (April-February 2024-25)

India’s Ministry of Commerce & Industry reported that the cumulative exports (merchandise & services) during April-February 2024-25 were estimated at USD 750.53 Billion, showing an estimated growth of 6.24% compared to the same period in 2023-24. Merchandise exports during this period were USD 395.63 Billion, with a positive growth of 0.06%. Non-Petroleum exports increased by 6.43%. In February 2025, major drivers of merchandise exports growth included Electronic Goods, Rice, Mica, Coal & Other Ores, Minerals, RMG of all Textiles, and Coffee. For February 2025, India’s total exports were estimated at USD 71.95 Billion, with a positive growth of 3.16% compared to February 2024. Total imports were estimated at USD 67.52 Billion, with a negative growth of (-)11.34%. The trade balance for February 2025 was USD 4.43 Billion, compared to -6.41 Billion in February 2024. Services exports for February 2025 were estimated at USD 35.03 Billion, with a growth of 14.10% during April-February 2024-25 over the previous year.
