DGFT Revises Platinum Import Policy to ‘Restricted,’ Exempts 99%+ Pure Alloys

The DGFT vide Notification No. 60/2024-25, dated March 05, 2025, amends the Import Policy for Platinum under HS Code 7110 (ITC (HS) 2022, Schedule-1). The policy for ITC (HS) Codes 71101110, 71101120, and 71101900 shifts from “Free” to “Restricted,” except for platinum alloys with 99% or higher purity by weight, which remain “Free.”

In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 and Section 5 of Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with paragraph L.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, as amended from time to time, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments under Chapter 71 of ITC (HS), 2022, Schedule-1 (Import Policy), as under:

The Import Policy and Policy Condition of the following ITC (HS) Codes is amended as under:

ITC(HS) Code Description Existing Import Policy Revised Import Policy Condition
7110 Platinum, Unwrought or in semi-manufactured forms, or in powder form.
711011 – Platinum: Unwrought or in powder form
71101110 — Unwrought form Free Restricted However, platinum import of 99% or more purity by weight of Platinum is free.
71101120 — In powder form Free Restricted
71101900 — Platinum: — Other Free Restricted

Effect of the Notification:

Import Policy of Platinum covered under ITC (HS) 71101110, 71101120, and 71101900 is revised from “Free” to “Restricted” except for platinum alloy of 99% or more purity by weight of Platinum.
