The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has extended the timeline for surrender of unutilised Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) quantity allocated for import of 10 Lakh Metric Tonnes (MT) of Raw Sugar. The extension has been notified through Public Notice No. 30/2026-2027 dated September 14, 2026.
Extension in continuation of earlier Public Notice: The latest Public Notice has been issued in exercise of powers conferred under Paragraphs 1.03 and 2.04 of the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), 2023, and in continuation of Public Notice No. 27/2026-2027 dated August 20, 2026. Through the amendment, DGFT has extended the timeline prescribed under Paragraph 5 of the earlier Public Notice for surrender of the unutilised TRQ quantity allocated for import of Raw Sugar under the TRQ mechanism.
Unutilised TRQ can now be surrendered up to September 30, 2026: Accordingly, TRQ holders have been permitted to surrender any unutilised quantity allocated under the Raw Sugar TRQ up to September 30, 2026. The extension provides additional time to quota holders who are unable or do not intend to utilise the quantity allotted to them.
Surrender subject to payment of 0.5% of CIF value: The surrender of unutilised TRQ quantity will be subject to payment of an amount equivalent to 0.5% of the CIF value of the surrendered quantity, in accordance with the existing modalities prescribed by DGFT.
Other conditions remain unchanged: DGFT has clarified that all other terms and conditions contained in Public Notice No. 27/2026-2027 dated August 20, 2026 will remain unchanged. Thus, the present Public Notice is limited to extension of the timeline for surrender of the unutilised TRQ quantity and does not modify the remaining conditions governing the Raw Sugar TRQ allocation.
