The CBDT vide Notification No. 118/2026 dated September 09, 2026 has notified the Secretary, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C), Government of Andhra Pradesh, as the designated authority for the purposes of sharing specified information relating to income-tax payers for identification of eligible beneficiaries under various welfare schemes being implemented by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
The notification has been issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 258(1)(b) of the Income-tax Act, 2025.
As per the notification, the sharing of information with the Secretary, ITE&C, Government of Andhra Pradesh will be undertaken in connection with the identification of persons eligible to receive benefits under various welfare schemes of the State Government. The measure is aimed at facilitating the use of relevant income-tax information for effective identification of eligible beneficiaries in accordance with the provisions of the Income-tax Act, 2025.
The notification has been issued on 9 September 2026 and will provide the statutory basis for sharing the relevant information with the notified authority of the Government of Andhra Pradesh for the stated purpose.
