GST Portal Update: E-mail Address Now Mandatory for Accessing Application through TRN

The GST Portal has introduced an additional verification requirement for applicants accessing their registration application through a Temporary Reference Number (TRN).

Under the revised process, applicants are now required to enter the TRN, registered e-mail address and CAPTCHA code to proceed with the application and complete OTP verification.

Earlier, applicants could access the application by entering only the TRN and CAPTCHA code. The updated process is as follows:

  • Earlier: TRN + CAPTCHA Code
  • Now: TRN + E-mail Address + CAPTCHA Code

The applicant should enter the same e-mail address that was provided while generating the TRN. This additional requirement has been introduced to strengthen the security and verification process and to prevent unauthorised access to GST registration applications.

Taxpayers, professionals and other stakeholders are advised to take note of the revised procedure while accessing pending registration applications on the GST Portal.
