Gujarat’s GST Revenue Jumps 26% in July 2026, Outpaces National Growth

Gujarat recorded a 26% year-on-year increase in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections in July 2026, significantly outperforming the national GST growth rate of 15.4%, according to a press note issued by the Office of the Chief Commissioner of State Tax.

The state collected ₹8,418 crore under GST in July 2026, compared to ₹7,798 crore during the same month last year.

In addition to GST revenue, Gujarat earned:

  • ₹3,105 crore from Value Added Tax (VAT)
  • ₹1,020 crore from Electricity Duty
  • ₹23 crore from Professional Tax

Together, these tax heads generated a total revenue of ₹12,566 crore for the State Tax Department in July 2026.

The figures indicate robust tax collections during the month, with Gujarat’s GST revenue growth surpassing the national average by a considerable margin.

India’s GST collections rose to ₹2.11 lakh crore in July 2026, registering a 15.4% year-on-year increase from ₹1.83 lakh crore collected in July 2025, according to provisional data released by the Finance Ministry.

Domestic GST revenue stood at ₹1.45 lakh crore, up 10.1% from a year earlier, while GST collections from imports surged 28.8% to ₹66,511 crore, driving the strong overall growth in tax receipts.
