
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, has notified Umarwada, Ankleshwar, Bharuch in Gujarat as a location for the unloading of imported goods and the loading of export goods, or any specified class of such goods.
The notification has been issued through Notification No. 67/2026-Customs (N.T.) dated 31 July 2026, published as G.S.R. 694(E) in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary.
The notification has been issued by the CBIC in exercise of the powers conferred under clause (aa) of sub-section (1), read with sub-section (2), of Section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962. It further amends the Government of India’s principal Notification No. 12/97-Customs (N.T.) dated 2 April 1997.
Under the amendment, a new entry has been inserted in the table against Serial Number 4 relating to the State of Gujarat. The location has been included as Item (xix) — “Umarwada, Ankleshwar, Bharuch”, with permission for the unloading of imported goods and loading of export goods or any class of such goods.
The notification provides the necessary customs recognition to the location for handling import and export cargo in accordance with the provisions of the Customs Act and the applicable customs procedures.
The notification has been issued under File No. CBIC-52/44/2024 and signed by Shri Indrajit Panda, Under Secretary to the Government of India.
The principal Notification No. 12/97-Customs (N.T.) was originally published on 2 April 1997 and was last amended through Notification No. 44/2026-Customs (N.T.) dated 11 May 2026, published as G.S.R. 351(E).
