The Economic Offences Wing arrested two men for generating and passing on fraudulent input tax credit (ITC) worth ₹4.17 crore through a fake GST-registered firm, causing substantial revenue loss to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Department.
The accused, Pawan Raghav, son of Shyam Singh Raghav, resident of Uttam Nagar, Delhi and Mohit Kumar, son of Ramjilal, resident of Sagarpur, South West Delhi, were arrested on Jul 21 by the EOW’s Meerut Sector during a special drive against wanted economic offenders.
The arrests were made in connection with an investigation being conducted by the EOW’s Meerut Sector in Case No. 53/24, arising out of FIR No. 51/2024 registered at Mughalpura police station in Moradabad.
In 2024, the accused fraudulently registered M/s Raghav Enterprises in Mughalpura, Moradabad, with GSTIN 09EVZPR5684D1ZI, with no genuine business operations. They created GST registration to generate and pass on bogus Input Tax Credit worth ₹4.17 crore to buyers.
Pawan Raghav provided his Aadhaar card, PAN card and Aadhaar authentication OTP to Mohit, enabling the fraudulent registration of the GST firm.
The trio allegedly used forged documents and fabricated business credentials to obtain GST registration and generate fake ITC invoices that were passed on to buyers with no actual supply of goods or services.
In a special campaign by UP EOW Headquarters in Lucknow and under supervision of SP, EOW Meerut Sector, the investigating team arrested both accused from Meerut office premises on Tuesday.
