Crackdown against GST fraud in Ludhiana

Ludhiana police have launched a major crackdown against GST fraud following complaints from the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department. Cases have been registered against nine companies and their operators across different police stations in the city. Preliminary investigations revealed that several firms allegedly obtained GST registrations using fake documents, false information and even mobile numbers and bank accounts belonging to other individuals. These registrations were then misused to issue bogus bills and claim wrongful Input Tax Credit (ITC), causing losses to the state exchequer.

Based on departmental complaints, police have booked Alpha Trading Company and its operator Ramandeep Singh at Daresi police station, CK Industries at Sahnewal, Pooja Enterprises and Shree Radhey Trading Company at Daba, Sitam Enterprises also at Daba, Ganpati Packers Industries and its owner Amit Kumar at Shimlapuri, Benipal Industries at Division No. 6, Krishna Traders and its operator Krishan Kumar at Tibba, and Khalsa Enterprises and its operator Sohanjeet Singh at Shimlapuri under multiple sections including those related to forgery and use of fake electronic records.

Officials stated that the campaign against fake GST registrations and fraudulent billing will continue, with more firms already under investigation. All documents are being scrutinised, and further legal action will be taken wherever necessary. The department emphasised that such fraudulent practices not only cheat the government but also undermine the integrity of the taxation system, and strict measures are essential to safeguard public revenue.
