Telangana GST collections register record 35% growth in April 2026

Telangana recorded its highest-ever Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue collection in April 2026, with the State earning ₹4,621 crore, marking a robust 35% year-on-year growth compared to ₹3,433 crore collected in April 2025.

According to officials of the Commercial Taxes Department, the State registered an increase of ₹1,188 crore over the corresponding month last year, reflecting strong economic momentum and improved tax compliance.

The department stated that the April 2026, GST collection was the highest since the inception of GST. The previous highest monthly collection stood at ₹4,231 crore recorded in March 2026. Telangana has consistently registered GST collections above ₹4,000 crore during the last four months, first crossing the milestone in January this year.

The total revenue collected by the Commercial Taxes Department, including VAT on petrol and liquor as well as Professional Tax, touched an all-time high of ₹7,570 crore. This represented a 22% growth over the ₹6,210 crore collected in April last year.

The total GST revenue generated from Telangana, including Integrated GST (IGST), Central GST (CGST), and State GST (SGST), stood at ₹7,181 crore. Of this, CGST accounted for ₹2,092 crore, SGST ₹2,527 crore, and IGST ₹2,562 crore. The State recorded a 12.6% growth in overall GST generation, which was stated to be the second-highest among all States after Karnataka.
