
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), has issued Notification No. 41/2026–Customs (N.T.) dated April 24, 2026, bringing revisions to the All Industry Rates (AIR) of duty drawback applicable to gold jewellery and silver jewellery/articles. These amendments are made to Notification No. 77/2023–Customs (N.T.) dated October 20, 2023.
Statutory Authority
The amendments have been notified in exercise of the powers conferred under:
- Section 75 of the Customs Act, 1962; and
- Section 37 of the Central Excise Act, 1944, read with the Customs and Central Excise Duties Drawback Rules, 2017.
Key Amendments Introduced
The notification revises the drawback rates specified in Chapter 71 (Schedule) of the principal notification. The following changes have been made:
- Tariff Item 711301 (Gold Jewellery):
- Existing rate: 639.59
- Revised rate: 773.17
- Tariff Item 711302 (Gold Jewellery – Other category):
- Existing rate: 9089.33
- Revised rate: 14,990.66
- Tariff Item 711401 (Silver Jewellery/Articles):
- Existing rate: 9089.33
- Revised rate: 14,990.66
Objective of the Revision
The revision in AIR of duty drawback is aimed at:
- Aligning drawback rates with current input costs and duty structures;
- Providing enhanced export competitiveness to the gems and jewellery sector;
- Ensuring fair and updated reimbursement of duties suffered on inputs used in exported goods.
Background
The principal notification (No. 77/2023–Customs (N.T.)) was issued on October 20, 2023, and has undergone periodic revisions. The latest amendment follows the earlier update made via Notification No. 21/2026–Customs (N.T.) dated February 16, 2026.
Implementation
The revised rates come into effect from the date of publication of the notification in the Official Gazette.
