Government Notifies Amendment to Inland Container Depot List in Rajasthan to Facilitate Trade Operations

The CBIC issued Notification No. 40/2026-Customs (N.T.) dated April 23, 2026, introducing an amendment to the list of Inland Container Depots (ICDs) under the Customs framework. The notification has been issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) under the Ministry of Finance.

Amendment to Principal Notification

The amendment has been carried out under the powers conferred by Section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962, read with relevant provisions. It modifies the earlier Notification No. 12/97-Customs (N.T.), dated April 2, 1997, which specifies locations for customs purposes including the handling of imported and export goods.

Correction in Rajasthan Entry

As per the notification, a textual correction has been made in the entry relating to the State of Rajasthan. The term “Kishangarh” has been corrected and standardized in the existing table under serial number 10.

Addition of New Customs Handling Location

Further, the Government has approved the insertion of a new entry in the table for Rajasthan:

  • Location: Village Hirmoda, Jaipur
  • Authorized Activity: Unloading of imported goods and loading of export goods, including all classes of such goods

This addition is expected to enhance logistics capacity and improve trade facilitation infrastructure in the region.

Boost to Trade and Logistics in Rajasthan

The inclusion of Village Hirmoda, Jaipur, as a designated customs handling location will support streamlined cargo movement, reduce congestion at existing facilities, and promote export-import activities in and around Jaipur.

Background and Continuity

The principal notification of 1997 has undergone periodic amendments to keep pace with evolving trade requirements. This latest update continues the Government’s effort to modernize customs infrastructure and improve ease of doing business.
