GSTAT Raipur Bench Commences Functioning to Strengthen GST Appellate Mechanism in Chhattisgarh

In a significant step towards strengthening the Goods and Services Tax (GST) dispute resolution framework, the Raipur Bench of the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) has formally commenced its functioning. The development is aimed at ensuring timely adjudication of GST-related appeals arising within the State of Chhattisgarh.

As per the Public Notice No. 01/2026 dated April 23, 2026, issued by the office of the GSTAT, Raipur Bench, the Tribunal shall operate from its temporary premises located at the existing VAT Tribunal building at North B-Block, Sector-19, Vanijyik Kar-GST Bhavan, Naya Raipur, Atal Nagar, Chhattisgarh – 492002.

The Raipur Bench will hear appeals filed under the provisions of the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, along with the respective State GST Acts, pertaining to cases originating within the jurisdiction of Chhattisgarh.

All stakeholders, including taxpayers, departmental authorities, and authorized representatives, are hereby informed that appeals, applications, and related proceedings shall henceforth be filed before the GSTAT, Raipur Bench in accordance with the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (Procedure) Rules, 2025, and other applicable legal provisions.

For ease of access and transparency, relevant procedural guidelines, e-filing advisories, and orders issued by the Tribunal have been made available on the GSTAT e-filing portal. Stakeholders are encouraged to utilize the online platform for filing and tracking cases.

In case of any difficulties encountered during the filing process, appellants may seek assistance via the GSTAT e-filing helpdesk. A toll-free helpline (1800-103-4782) has been provided, and grievances may also be lodged through the Incident Report Form available on the official portal.

This initiative is expected to enhance the efficiency of GST dispute resolution, reduce pendency, and provide a dedicated appellate forum for taxpayers and authorities within the State.

Trade and industry associations, chambers of commerce, tax bar associations, and legal practitioners have been requested to widely disseminate this information to ensure maximum awareness among stakeholders.

The establishment and operationalization of GSTAT benches across the country is a key reform under the GST regime, aimed at ensuring uniformity, transparency, and expeditious disposal of tax disputes.
