The Tiruchi Central GST Commissionerate has established a centralised control room in view of the Assembly elections in the State.
“The CGST and Central Excise, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Zone, has activated a robust, multi-layered enforcement framework to ensure a free and fair electoral process across the state,” said an official press release from the commissionerate.
The establishment of the 24/7 control room is part of the measures initiated to prevent the distribution of inducements and ensure strict compliance with electoral norms.
Flying squads have been activated to conduct road checks, vehicle inspections and monitor social venues/marriage halls to prevent mass distribution of inducements. The teams will be strategically positioned along major national highways and other roads. Static Surveillance Teams will monitor warehouses and godowns to prevent stockpiling of goods which can be used for voter inducement.
Members of the public can pass on information regarding illegal movement or stockpiling of goods, the release said.
