CBIC Amends Customs Ports Notification to Enable Import and Export Cargo Handling at Bhogapuram, Andhra Pradesh

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has notified an amendment to the Customs ports notification to facilitate specified import and export operations in the State of Andhra Pradesh.

As per Notification No. 02/2026–Customs (N.T.), issued vide G.S.R. 29(E) dated 14 January 2026, the amendment has been made under the provisions of section 7 of the Customs Act, 1962.

Key Amendment

The notification amends the principal Notification No. 61/94–Customs (N.T.) dated 21 November 1994, which specifies customs ports, airports and land customs stations across the country.

Under the amendment, a new entry has been inserted against Serial Number 2 relating to the State of Andhra Pradesh in the Table annexed to the principal notification.

The newly added entry provides for:

  • Bhogapuram to be notified for unloading of imported goods and loading of export goods or any class of such goods.

Objective

The amendment is aimed at strengthening customs infrastructure and facilitating smoother handling of import and export cargo in the region, in line with the Government’s ongoing efforts to enhance trade facilitation and logistics efficiency.

The notification comes into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
