Gross Direct Tax collections for Financial Year (FY) 2025-26 have shown steady growth, reflecting the resilience of the Indian economy and improved tax compliance. As per provisional data released on December 19, 2025, Gross Direct Tax collections up to 17th December, 2025 stand at ₹20.01 lakh crore, registering a growth of 4.16 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
After adjusting for refunds, Net Direct Tax collections for FY 2025-26 up to 17th December, 2025 amount to ₹17.05 lakh crore, which represents a robust growth of 8.00 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Key Highlights
- Gross Direct Tax Collections increased to ₹20,01,794 crore, as against ₹19,21,932 crore during the corresponding period of FY 2024-25.
- Refunds issued during the period stood at ₹2,97,069 crore, showing a decline of 13.52 per cent, thereby improving net revenue realization.
- Net Direct Tax Collections rose to ₹17,04,725 crore, compared to ₹15,78,433 crore in the previous year.
Component-wise Performance
- Corporate Tax (Net) collections stood at ₹8,17,310 crore, showing healthy growth over last year.
- Non-Corporate Tax (Net) collections, including taxes paid by individuals, HUFs, firms and other entities, increased to ₹8,46,905 crore, reflecting improved income reporting and compliance.
- Securities Transaction Tax (STT) collections remained stable at ₹40,195 crore.
Advance Tax Collections
Advance Tax collections for FY 2025-26 up to 17th December, 2025 reached ₹7,88,388 crore, marking a growth of 4.27 per cent over the corresponding period of FY 2024-25.
- Corporate Advance Tax rose by 7.98 per cent to ₹6,07,300 crore.
- Non-Corporate Advance Tax stood at ₹1,81,088 crore.
