Indian Railways Announces Reduced MRP for Packaged Drinking Water, Effective September 22, 2025

The Ministry of Railways vide Commercial Circular No. 18 of 2025 dated September 20, 2025, has revised the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) for packaged drinking water. Effective 22nd September 2025, the price for a 1-litre bottle is reduced from ₹15 to ₹14, and for a 500ml bottle from ₹10 to ₹9. This revision applies to all Rail Neer and other IRCTC-shortlisted water brands sold on railway premises and in trains. Necessary compliance is required.

In continuation of Board’s above referred Circular, Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) with the concurrence of the F(C) Directorate, have now decided as under:

  1. Maximum retail price of packaged drinking water bottle ‘Rail Neer’ shall be revised from ₹15/- to ₹14/- per bottle of one litre and ₹10/- to ₹9/- per bottle of 500 ml capacity.
  2. Maximum retail price of IRCTC/Railways shortlisted packaged drinking water bottles of other brands sold in railway premises/trains shall also be revised from ₹15/- to ₹14/- per bottle of one litre and ₹10/- to ₹9/- per bottle of 500 ml capacity.

These instructions shall be made applicable w.e.f. 22.09.2025.

Necessary action may be taken accordingly.
