GST payment facility through UPI and credit/debit cards is now also available in Mizoram; Total 24 States/UTs available

In a move aimed at enhancing taxpayer convenience, the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has introduced a new facility allowing businesses and individuals to make their GST payments seamlessly through Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Debit/Credit Cards. This initiative is expected to simplify the tax payment process, offering users greater flexibility and speed. The GST payment facility through UPI and Credit/Debit cards is now also available in Mizoram, with Debit Card Payments enabled via @IndianBank and UPI Payments available via @South Indian Bank.

The facility is currently available across 24 States and Union Territories including Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, and Uttar Pradesh, among others. GSTN has also confirmed that the remaining states and banks will be brought under this system in a phased manner soon.

The new payment option supports all UPIs and cards powered by Rupay, MasterCard, Visa, and Diners, making it accessible to a wide range of taxpayers. Payments can be routed via multiple banks such as Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Canara Bank, IDFC First Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bandhan Bank, Indian Bank, Dhanlaxmi Bank, Karnataka Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, and South Indian Bank.

The convenience comes with specific applicability—while some banks currently support both credit and debit cards, others are enabled for debit cards only or UPI exclusively. For instance, ICICI Bank and Bandhan Bank allow credit card usage, whereas Karnataka Bank and South Indian Bank provide UPI-only services.

With this update, taxpayers no longer need to rely solely on net banking or over-the-counter challans. Instead, they can complete their GST transactions instantly through familiar digital payment methods.

This initiative marks another step towards the government’s vision of “Digital India”, making compliance smoother, faster, and more user-friendly for millions of businesses nationwide.
