The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has issued Trade Notice No. 11/2025-26 dated August 27, 2025, announcing a comprehensive review of Standard Input Output Norms (SIONs) related to food items.
According to the notice, several existing SIONs contain generic input descriptions or lack clarity regarding alternative input quantities. Such ambiguities, DGFT observed, could lead to misinterpretation or misuse of the norms.
In view of the sensitive nature of food products, Norms Committee-6 will undertake a detailed review of the following SIONs: E-1, E-4, E-5, E-7, E-38, E-46, E-75, E-76, E-77, E-100, E-101, E-102, E-127, E-132, E-13.3, along with related general notes.
The DGFT has invited comments, suggestions, and feedback from exporters, importers, industry associations, export promotion councils, and other stakeholders on the proposed revision.
Stakeholders have been requested to send their views to NC-VI at nc6.dgft@nic.in by September 5, 2025.
