The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) vide Notification No. 130/2025 dated August 07, 2025 has notified the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board (PAN: AAALU0160D) as eligible for exemption under Section 10(46A)(b) of the Income-tax Act, 1961.
The Board, constituted under the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 and the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, will enjoy the exemption starting from the assessment year 2025–26. This is subject to the condition that it continues to operate for one or more of the purposes specified in Section 10(46A)(a) of the Income-tax Act.
According to the notification, this decision has been given retrospective effect, with the Finance Ministry confirming that no person will be adversely affected by this move.
