Govt facilities have spurred industrial growth, boosted GST collection: Gujarat CM

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday said that government facilities and incentives have helped industries grow, which in turn has increased Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection.

Speaking at Nadabet village near the India-Pakistan border after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for projects worth Rs 358.37 crore in Banaskantha district, Patel said people are willingly paying taxes as they see the revenue being utilized for their own welfare.

Among the projects inaugurated were a new bus stop, 45 school classrooms, and three new 66kV power substations.

Patel said the country’s GST collection touched Rs 2 lakh crore in May, attributing this to better industrial infrastructure in Gujarat. “A trader can pay tax only when his business does well. To ensure that, industries need good roads, electricity, and water facilities,” he said.

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance model, the CM said the idea of “100 per cent saturation” ensures that every eligible citizen is covered under welfare schemes. He also praised campaigns like ‘Catch The Rain’ and ‘Mission Amrit Sarovar’ aimed at sustainable water management for future generations.
