DGFT Revises Import Policy for Precious Metal Compounds under CTH 2843 to Restricted with Immediate Effect

The DGFT vide Notification No. 19/2025-26 dated June 17, 2025, amends the import policy for items under Chapter 28, ITC (HS) 2022, Schedule-I. Specifically, the import policy for all items classified under CTH 2843, including colloidal precious metals, inorganic and organic compounds of precious metals, and amalgams, has changed from “Free” to “Restricted.” This includes gold and silver colloidal metals, silver and gold compounds, sodium aurous thiosulphate, noble metal solutions, and other related compounds and amalgams. The amendment is effective immediately, exercising powers under the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act and relevant Foreign Trade Policy provisions.

In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 and Section 5 of Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992, read with paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023, as amended from time to time, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments under Chapter 28 of ITC (HS) 2022, Schedule -I (Import Policy), with immediate effect.

Effect of the Notification:

The Import Policy of items covered under CTH 2843 is revised from “Free” to “Restricted”, with immediate effect.
